Keep fasting, slowly
Las palabras evolucionan con los tiempos, y el uso que les damos.
El término “fast” es un claro ejemplo de esto.
Antes, mucho antes, cuando decía “fast asleep“, mi amor, te deseaba ¨que la noche te acune, que el descanso te sostenga y te recargue, para que al amanecer te encuentres descansado y listo para abrazar el día con energía y claridad.” Era el anhelo de una pausa profunda, serena, segura. Luego en la calma de la jornada, previamente planeada, rompíamos el ayuno, por salud o por creencia, y le llamamos breakfast.
Ahora, apenas se pronuncia un ¨ojalá puedas dormirte rápido¨, o ¨apaga la pantalla y duérmete ya¨.
El deseo convirtióse en objetivo de lograr dormir el mínimo de las horas necesarias, para enfrentar el día rápidamente, llegar al trabajo lo más pronto posible, y si el día no alcanza, comer fast food, es una tentación.
Cuando nos agotemos, emprendamos vuelo, amor mío. Escuchemos, entre la emoción y el miedo, al llamado de ‘Abrochar sus cinturones,’ como un cuidado sostenido que protege, sin apretarnos, cuando la prisa y la presión de afuera, nos despegue.

Hi Pat, we certainly need to fasten our seatbelts in these changing times, both here in the UK and with you in the USA.
I hope you don’t mind me taking a liberty and adding a YouTube sound bite. I’m showing my age, but I do remember seeing these gentlemen perform this song when tv’s were very small (like me at the time) and black and white. There were no seatbelts in those days so it was “hold very tight, please!”
